On March 27–29, 2026, the 11th Panhellenic Conference of the Association of Researchers in Mathematics Education was held at the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics of the University of Crete, in Heraklion, under the theme “Developing Mathematics Teaching and Critical Thinking”. Within the session dedicated to the presentation of research projects, Charoula Stathopoulou, Professor Emerita at the University of Thessaly, specializing in Mathematics Education at the Department of Special Education, represented the Rhizo-Eduscapes research project.

The presentation entitled “Rhizo-eduscapes: A multidisciplinary approach to critical mathematical and linguistic non-formal education of unaccompanied minors through rhizomatic cartography” (Roula Kitsiou, Vaso Chrysikou, Giorgos Kyriakopoulos, Zafeira Balampanidou, Charoula Stathopoulou) highlighted the theoretical and methodological framework of the project, focusing on the interconnection between mathematical and linguistic literacies in non-formal educational settings. Particular emphasis was placed on the rhizomatic approach as a tool for understanding learning as a dynamic and non-linear process, as well as on the importance of critical thinking and inclusion in the education of unaccompanied minors with a refugee experience.
