My name is Eleni Bekou and, since November 2024, I am a graduate of Language and Intercultural Studies, University of Thessaly. I was born and raised in Volos, Greece where I live at the moment. I speak Greek, English and Spanish. During my studies I took Mandarin lessons, a language that I would like to study more about in the future. As a person I am introverted and I like watching movies, reading books (especially poetry) and traveling.<\/p>\n
My involvement with refugee education started back in 2023, through the research program ActInPrison, where, under the guidance of Ms. Kitsiou and Ms. Stathopoulou, my fellow co-researchers from VLLRG group and I had the opportunity to engage in non-formal education for young detainees with a refugee background, by utilising language literacy and intercultural communication. It was a valuable experience that shaped me as a person, as I learned and reconsidered many things through this interaction. With the launch of the Rhizo-Eduscapes program, I was introduced for the first time to the Deleuze-Guattarian concept of the rhizome and to nomadic education.
